Our Story
In 2013, Anna Bunting launched Anna’s Additions in her basement in Louisville, KY making Derby hats and fascinators for friends and family and decorating Christmas trees for a few clients.
Today, Anna’s Additions employs over 30 amazing women and has expanded to a 5,800 square foot retail & workshop space, including a dedicated floral room and work stations for 12 designers.
For Derby 2025, we’ve curated a stunning collection of luxurious fascinators, blending exquisite designs with the finest materials, including delicate silk and opulent feathers. Each piece is meticulously crafted, with feather mounts that range from elegantly subtle to boldly dramatic. By bringing in only the most refined products, we’ve created headpieces that offer both exceptional quality and timeless sophistication.
Workshop & Design Team
Our workshop has been redesigned specifically for Derby 2025 to allow more design space and creative atmosphere. In addition to the amazing designers we have, Anna’s Additions also includes a wonderful support staff to accommodate growth and production.
All of our designers are very familiar with our workshop, supplies, floral stems, and feathers, as they are year-round designers for Anna’s Additions, not just seasonal help. Their talent and expertise are outstanding and they continue to learn new techniques, designs and current trends for each hat season. We are beyond blessed with this unparalleled, exceptional, artistic creative team. Our master designer is Lorie Laughead.

With a collective 50+ years of hat-designing experience, our designers work with clients across the country to craft spectacular, one-of-a-kind hats and fascinators.
For Derby 2025, designs by Anna’s Additions will be sold in Tunies, both in Louisville and Lexington, all 38 Von Maur stores nationwide, Urban Market in Louisville, Lulu Bells in Prospect and Peacock on Third in Bardstown.

Frances McGough McPherson(1916 - 2004)
Grandmother McPherson:
My biggest influence and one of my all time favorite people! Not only was my grandmother a hat milliner, but also an artist using both oil and watercolor in many genres.
Growing up, Thursdays were “grandmother” days and she always had a craft for us to do… from painting to creating mosaics with glass, eggshells, beads, beans - basically anything. We created with clay, made paper mache, drew with pencils, shaped putty, made jewelry, learned sewing and doll making, and even designed disco balls with mirrors! We were also taught how to properly set a formal table, polish silver, fold napkins, and say the blessing. It was always a learning, adventurous creative day at Grandmother’s!
Whenever we would see something of interest, her response was always, “I bet we can make that!” And we would… or at least attempt it.
I am so grateful for the time my Grandmother spent with me growing up, and always teaching with patience and love.
